Why do the locals love fall? Fall fishing and tournaments of course!

Comment are off

Carolina Beach is a great place to visit in the summer but if you’ve never come down for fall you are missing out.  The weather is beautiful and the days are still long and sunny.  September temperatures average 84 degree highs and 68 degree lows while October is not much cooler with highs averaging 76 degrees and lows around 57.  Water temperatures average 80 degrees in September and 79 degrees in October.  So you can swim and surf but the real fishing happens then also.

The Carolina Beach Municipal Marina is home to a variety of deep sea and in shore charter fishing boats.  These seasoned Captains offer half and full day charters.  Many of our charter boats are operated by families who have been fishing these waters for many generations.  They know where to find the fish and make your day on the water a memory of a lifetime.  If you book a deep sea charter this time of year there are a variety of fish to be caught including King Mackerel, Tuna, Sail Fish, Marlin, Mahi, Snapper and Wahoo just to name a few.  In shore you will find Flounder, Blue Fish, Mackerel, Trout and Drum.

If deep sea fishing isn’t your thing don’t worry our inshore waters offer a large variety of fish for the taking including Flounder, Drum and Trout.  In September bring your boat or book a charter and enter the Fisherman’s Post Carolina Beach Inshore Challenge. Sign up for this premiere inshore tournament located in the heart of North Carolina flounder and red drum territory. Fall is definitely one of the most popular times for surf fishing in our area.  A huge variety of fish can be caught right off the beach including Bluefish, Trout, Flounder, Pompano, Black Drum, and Sea Mullet.

On October 15-21 Pleasure Island hosts the Pleasure Island Surf Fishing Challenge.     Pleasure Island, made up of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Fort Fisher, provides a great island for surf fishing, and is the perfect venue for hosting the area’s premiere land-based surf fishing tournament.
